When Grammy was here, we first met our cousin baby Maren who lives right here in Arizona with us. Last week she got very sick with bacterial meningitis. http://itsaboutthegirl.blogspot.com/
We have said lots of prayers and been pretty worried. But tonight.....
BrookLynn is jumping up and down and feeling very excited because prayer works! Baby Maren is beginning to recover! As you can see, she was pretty easy to fall in love with in the first place, and we can't wait to see that little toothy smile again for ourselves!

Baby Bath

What fun we are having with the baby birds! They are getting stronger and braver. The top of their cage, they think, is the ultimate jungle gym. They are always doing flips on the ladders and empty bowl holders. They are so excited to see us in the morning, and start running laps around the bottom of the cage until we open the door. This morning Jeffrey said Abigail was running around UNDER the paper. They made the delightful discovery of a variety of breakfast cereals in the kids bowls and ran back and forth on the counter sampling, (much to every one's delight) and then Stevie even ventured into the kitchen sink to check the bowls that had already been deposited there. Best of all, they FINALLY figured out the pie tin of water I placed on top of the cage Saturday is meant for bathing! First Nabby splashed and rolled, then Stevie. I love soggy birdies!

Dawson's Latest Read

Dawson has already read to Chapter 10 - in just 2 days!!! I am so proud of him, this is one of those books that everyone knows about, but who has really read it? He's a little nervous about the scary picture on the front, I'll have him post a report when the aliens land.

Baby! Baby!

These are my new babies! It's been ___since Mr. Darcey died, and our family just couldn't get used to the quiet, clean spot in the kitchen where a bird ought to be. I missed him every morning, and especially on Sunday afternoons. SO when I stumbled across an add for baby Green Cheeks I just had to go look. Of course we decided to adopt one, the problem was Berkeley picked one (Abigail) and then one picked us (Stevie). So they both came home with us, and WE LOVE 'EM! This is Abigail or "Nabby". She is spunky and funny. She loves me best, and I love that when she hears my voice she'll leave wherever she is and flies to my shoulder.
This is Stevie - (of course he's in charge!) He is a cuddler. Also he is fun to play catch with. Yesterday we spend the evening calling him back and forth across the room . Everyone loves Stevie, and Stevie loves everyone!
How do the babies like each other? Oh man! This is no Jacob/Darcey rivalry! It's nothing but love and affection....so far!

The Hunter and The Hunted

Easter Week

Easter Week has come and gone again. I just love Easter! When Jeffrey was two Meema, gave us a binder of quotes, pictures, and scriptures all related to the last week of the Savior's life. We have read from it every year since then. Four years ago I discovered a book called "A Christ Centered Easter" and that Easter Bunny had to hit the road. Ever since we have spent Easter week doing all that we can to focus on the Savior, His teachings, and most importantly His Atonement.

Saturday evening, Jeffrey came home very excited because he had found a beehive in a water meter and brought a large chunk of Honeycomb home to me. I have always REALLY wanted some real honeycomb for Easter Sunday's "Jerusalem dinner". This year I had tried calling bee farms in the area, and looking to purchase some online. I never was able to get any at all, so I had bought "honeycomb cereal" again so it was at least represented. I was overwhelmed with the very idea that just at the last moment before it was needed, the Lord seemed to have provided this honeycomb for my family. As I prayed in gratitude for this small tender mercy, I felt that Heavenly Father seemed to recognize my efforts, and let me know that it was in fact meaningful. I also re-learned the great truth that when I was unable to provide for myself, the Lord made up the difference and in what seemed like to me, a miraculous discovery of a hive in the middle of my own neighborhood!

Racquetball - Knock Out

(Glen's Comments) Everything is completely fine, the ambulance was completely unnecessary. The accident happened on the morning of 4/14 was completely my fault. I got a little bit too close to Bruce's back swing trying to get better court positioning and I took a racquetball racket to the upper jaw/lip. (In racquetball each player is responsible for clearing the back-half of the full racket swing of their opponent) The next thing I remember when I woke up was the paramedic asking me if I could move my toes and if I knew where I was - I was VERY irritated when I realized that the paramedics were there for me. I was then taken to the hospital, in my first ever ride in an ambulance, where they stitched my upper lip and gave me a CT scan. I had a really rough ER doctor who grabbed my upper lip and turned it inside out to look at the inside of the wound which made me pass out again from pain. (Think about when you have a pimple in your nose... it is that kind of pain.)

Jen and Marie later arrived at the ER and filled me in on the missing part of the story of when I was passed out on the racquetball court floor. I sounds like everyone got really scared when my breathing went really shallow and my eyes rolled back and they couldn't revive me even when pouring cold water over my head and chest. They actually thought I was dead. Jen said that my skin color went to a pasty white color, much like Edward Cullen's - but without the marble texture to my skin... :) It emotionally shook up everyone for the rest of the day -except for me- it only felt like I was out for a few seconds.

I took the stitches out on Saturday and my wound is almost healed. I went to the dentist and my teeth are still safely attached to my gums and there is no permanent damage. I am working now on convincing Bruce to play me again in racquetball.

(JEN'S COMMENT) When your husband is out cold, with barely a pulse, and refuses to stay conscious after being unconscious for 8 minutes, paramedics are necessary.

I also think Glen is much hotter than Edward, and he couldn't pull off the vampire thing anyway since he faints at the sight of blood :) Besides, I would prefer him to remain mortal.

Berkeley's Baptism

Science Center

Haircuts

"We are going to do WHAT?" Don't you just love these expressions?
Of course Jacob takes it like a man. He always reminds Angela to "make me look like Jacob". He doesn't want her giving him the wrong haircut by mistake.

Movie Time Madness

The Cub Club

Can you say yea Grammy? I just HATE sewing scout patches, stuff just goes so wrong for me when I try, and there were a lot of shirts (three) that needed work before pack night last week. Lucky for me my mom was in town and she is a master with the machine. So....I did the UN-picking and she sewed it all back together!
This is Dawson after he fought a bear who mauled him and untucked his shirt, but he ended up with his BEAR award that night!
Berkeley earned his Bobcat already, and went through the right of passage. Lucky he has one tooth in there to snag the apple with!
Congratulations boys, good work!

Thanks Grandpa and Meema!

Grammy!

Grammy has had enough of the snow, so she flew over to thaw out. We are looking forward to a week of fun!

Berkeley's getting baptised!

Berk had his interview with Bishop Wold last week! He'll be getting baptised this Saturday! We are so excited for him, and grateful he has chosen to take this step!

"He's a Keeper"

I took this picture with my phone a couple Sunday's ago. We were having a rough time in Sacrament Meeting and so I took Sammy out for a walk. I was feeling tired and frustrated , but trying to enjoy the moment realizing my days of toddler-hood are soon over. When the picture came out I was blessed to see, before it's too late, how much I'll miss this and to remember to find"Joy in the Journey".
