Every year the kids sleep out with Grandpa in the barn. The first night of the reunion I went out with Sammy to join the fun. Parents aren't usually included unless you have a tiny one who needs supervision (kind of like Disneyland, you can ride as long as you are accompanied by a small child). Here is my insider's report
Phase 1 : Sleeping Bags
Green? Red? Blue? Black?
Phase 2 : Girls Screaming about Spiders
Big kids on top (how big is big?),
little kids on bottom,
peace making popular-with-the-toddlers kids on hide-aways.
Phase 4 : 4 rounds of potty trips
Phase 5 : Lots of Noise
Phase 6 : One More Potty Trip
Phase 7: Lights go out
Phase 8: Grandpa tells a story about Great Grandpa and teaches us "When we stop caring so much about ourselves, and care more about others, we stop being afraid."
Guess that explains why Grandpa dares to sleep in the barn year after year!
